About Us...
Club Profile
Our club is one of the most successful clubs of the university and has
done some significant progress the last five years. In addition our club is
trying to built links with the local community and promote sport development in
the area. For this purpose since last year the club participates with one team
in National league competition. Our national team in its first year of
participation in a national level competition managed to proceed to play-offs
for promotion.
The season 2005-2006 was the most successful as University team participated in
tournaments beating teams with strong tradition in volleyball (Cambridge
University, Oxford University, Sheffield Hallam and Loughborough).
What we're like
The club is a competitive one, and we have goals we train hard to
achieve. We train twice a week for two hours, with a match every week during
term for the students, and approximately every second
week for the NVL. We have an excellent and diverse social
scene, with (very) regular visits to the pub after training, team dates with
other University teams and club socials (which start off respectable and end up
being slightly less so). Our teams are extremely international, with European,
African, American and Asian players. We even have a few lonely English hanging
around. We also have a spread of ages, from undergrads to post grads, postdocs to
parents. If you want to win volleyball matches in a (fairly) chilled-out
environment, this is the place.
